CenterPoint Energy has announced a new Customer Assistance Fund. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
The Texas-based utility company says the fund is focused on providing bill assistance to eligible customers in Indiana.
It replaces CenterPoint’s Share the Warmth program.
CenterPoint Vice President Mike Roeder says the new program gives customers “another option to better manage their energy bills.”
The CAF expands eligibility to include customers who may not qualify for state and federal low-income assistance programs but still face difficulties managing their energy costs.
Eligibility for the previous Share the Warmth program was limited to natural gas customers who owned their residences. The C.A.F. extends support to eligible electric customers as well as those who rent their residences.
The Salvation Army is helping facilitate the program supported by CenterPoint shareholder contributions, employee donations and voluntary customer contributions.
