A fire at a recycling facility in Daviess County, Kentucky has sent black smoke into the air and closed a state highway. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
Firefighters from both Owensboro and Daviess County responded to the blaze at River Metals Recycling on Kentucky State Road 2830 between Owensboro and Maceo Monday morning.
Reports from the scene indicate tires caught fire, producing black smoke.
There’s no word of any injuries.
A mobile home park sits just south of the recycling plant.
The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office says deputies closed State Road 2830 between Wright’s Landing and Ice Landing roads because of smoke reducing visibility.
The highway was expected to remain closed for several hours, with traffic diverted to nearby U.S. 60.
There’s no word on how the fire started.
Update: One possible injury has been reported in the fire.
