If you’re cooking a big Thanksgiving meal, the city of Evansville urges you to recycle the oil and grease. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
The Evansville Water and Sewer Utility is conducting its 4th annual Used Cooking Oil Recycling Day this Saturday.
It’s from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sunrise Pump Station, 1200 Riverside Drive.
A grease waste station will be set up in the parking lot between the Pump Station and the new skate park.
The utility says holiday cooking can produce a lot of fats, oils and grease known as FOG.
Officials say you should never pour them down the drain or the toilet, because that can clog the plumbing inside your home and the city’s sewer system.
And dumping oil and grease on the ground is bad for the environment.
So, officials from the city and American Grease and Septic urge you to take your used cooking oil to Saturday’s recycle event.
