Time is running out for a historic building in Cannelton. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:
The southern Indiana city is seeking proposals from qualified developers to rehab and reuse the building at 201 Washington Street.
Because of the two-story structure’s deteriorated condition, the building is slated for demolition by the end of the year if a new owner isn’t found.
The corner building stands in Cannelton’s historic district along State Road 66.
Indiana Landmarks put the entire town’s downtown on its Ten Most Endangered Places list in 2018, and it has remained on the preservation group’s watch list ever since.
Proposals are due by December 9th, and developers must commit to a timely and sensitive rehabilitation of the building for mixed commercial and residential use.
Interested developers should contact the city of Cannelton.
