The Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation has unveiled next year’s school calendar. WNIN’s John Gibson takes a look:
The 2025-26 school year is scheduled to start and end one day earlier than this year.
Teachers meetings will start July 31st.
The school year will begin with students whose names are in the second half of the alphabet.
For several years, the EVSC required students with last names beginning with A-through-K to report to classes for a couple of days, followed by kids with L-through-Z names, with all students reporting the following Friday.
But for next year, the school district flipped the plan. Students with L-through-Z names will report first.
All students are expected in class on August 8th.
The first official day off will be Labor Day, September 1st with the Fall Break set for October 13th to the 17th – the week after the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival.
The 2025-26 calendar also includes three staff development days, September 24th, January 5th and March 11th.
That’s one more development day than this year.
The calendar also includes three potential makeup days, with first one in late February.
The Evansville Vanderburgh School Board approved the new calendar Monday night.
