State Grants to Help Pave Local Roads

File

Governor Holcomb announced a nearly $730,000 matching grant for Evansville

The City of Evansville is receiving a nearly 730-thousand dollar grant to help pave local roads. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The state funding is part of Community Crossings matching grants announced by Governor Eric Holcomb in Petersburg on Thursday.

The grant for Evansville will fund various road paving projects, including

Stringtown Road from Morgan to Keck; Boeke Road from Virginia to Morgan; West Mill Road from First Avenue to the city limit; North Green River Road from Constellation Avenue to Davis Lant Drive; and Oak Grove Road from Enterprise Park Drive to the East Bridge.

Mayor Stephanie Terry says the city made improvements to several roads through the first round of Community Crossings. She says this second round will allow the city to “continue work to improve the condition of our roads.”

Bids for the projects are expected to be accepted in early 2025, with paving expected to begin later in the year.

Money for Community Crossings comes from Indiana’s local road and bridge matching grant fund.
