It’s the day after the election but there are still more votes to be counted here in Vanderburgh County. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
The county’s election office announced Tues night that it would stop tallying the votes at 10 p.m. with about 26,000 more ballots to count.
More than 48,000 votes were tallied on Election Night, and the results so far show a strong night for local Republicans.
The balance of power on the Vanderburgh County Commission will likely remain a 2-to-1 GOP majority, with Republican Amy Canterbury leading Democrat Hope Fussner 57-to-42 percent.
Republicans also lead in all three at-large seats on the Vanderburgh County Council.
In the County Coroner race, the GOP’s Bryan Underwood leads Democrat Keith Mosby roughly 55-to-45 percent.
And Republican Russ Lloyd Jr. has a large lead over Democrat Gina Robinson-Ungar for County Recorder.
In a non-partisan EVSC school board contest, newcomer Amy Devries and longtime incumbent Terry Gamblin lead the race for two seats over the third candidate Joshua Barnett.
And in the non-partisan race for Vanderburgh Circuit Court Judge, Ryan Hatfield leads Molly Briles roughly 53 percent to 47 percent to replace Judge David Kiely, who is stepping down.
The Election Office expects to complete the vote count Wednesday afternoon.
