Early Voting Ends, Election Day is Tuesday

Long lines were persistent at early voting sites in Vanderburgh County

Early voting has ended in Vanderburgh County, as officials prepare for the big event Tuesday. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:

Early, in-person balloting wrapped up at Central Library at noon -- but not before the line of voters stretched out the door and onto the parking lot.

Officials say more than twice as many people voted early this year compared to last year’s mayoral race in Evansville. Presidential elections traditionally draw more people to the polls.

22 vote centers will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Election Day in Vanderburgh County. Warrick County is offering 17 vote centers.

More voting information is available online at Election Office websites across the state.

Hoosiers are electing a new governor, members of congress, state legislators, judges, school board members, and many municipal leaders.

Voters in Kentucky will decide whether the state’s constitution should be amended to allow tax dollars to support students attending private or charter schools.

The first votes to be counted in the Vanderburgh County Election Office will be mailed-in ballots, starting Tuesday morning. But no votes are announced until after the polls close.

The Vanderburgh County GOP will watch election results at Birdies on Martin Luther King Blvd. at Vine St.

Local Democrats will watch results at Venue 812, on Boeke Road, south of Morgan Avenue.

Both watch parties start at 6 p.m.
