Officials have broken ground for a new fire station in Owensboro. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:
The City of Owensboro and Owensboro Fire Department conducted the groundbreaking on Monday for a facility that will replace the current Fire Station No. 3.
The city says the new station is part of a $30 million initiative to enhance fire department facilities across Owensboro.
Officials say the new station will feature modernized and expanded spaces, including updated daytime and nighttime areas, administrative offices, and upgraded apparatus bays—all designed to improve firefighter safety and enhance response capabilities.
The old Station 3 on Cravens Ave. opened in 1973.
