The state program will provide $5 million for a $45 million wellness center

The state’s READI program will help pay for a planned regional wellness center in Jasper. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

Officials have announced the allocation of five-million dollars in READI 2.0 funds to support the development of a 45-million dollar Jasper wellness center, marking the region’s first investment through the Indiana Regional Acceleration and Development Initiative 2.0.

The 90,000-square-foot facility will be built on ten acres adjacent to Jasper High School.

Plans include a fitness center, four gymnasiums, an indoor aquatic center, an indoor walking track, group exercise studios, community rooms and a community kitchen.

The new facility will be owned by the city of Jasper and operated by the Tri-County YMCA.

Construction is expected to begin by summer 2025, with the facility opening in late 2027.

Governor Eric Holcomb established the now $1.25 billion READI program in 2021, with the goal of transforming Indiana communities, attracting talent and improving quality of life for Hoosiers.
