Election 2024: More At-Large Candidates

Republicans Jill Anne Hahn, Joe Kiefer II, and Democrat Karese Johnson are among six candidates seeking three seats on the Vanderburgh County Council

Six candidates are running for the three at-large seats on the Vanderburgh County Council. After hearing from three of them Tuesday WNIN’s John Gibson introduces the remaining three:

Republican Jill Hahn is currently the only woman on the county’s fiscal board. She touts her four years on the council:

"I've enjoyed increasing our county prosecutor's and law enforcement salaries, provided broadband internet to the entire county, and built two ADA-compliant playgrounds and pickleball courts within Burdette Park."

Another woman in the race, Democrat Karese Johnson, says she has spent 20 years serving residents on boards that address youth issues, food security, affordable housing and more:

"Now I want to serve them from a decision making capacity that will make a deeper impact for years to come. My vision is simple: inclusive growth, safe neighborhoods and responsible spending."

Republican Joe Kiefer II hopes to continues his father’s service to the county. His top priorities are public safety and economic development:

"Other priorities include ensuring that we tackle our nationally high utility costs and drive a better level of return on investments so we don't have to continue asking more financially from our community."

Early voting continues Central, McCullough, North Park, Oaklyn, and Red Bank libraries.

Voting is also available the next two Saturdays at Cedar Hall School on Fulton Avenue and at Northeast Park Baptist Church on Boeke Road.
