Explore Evansville is looking for a site to replace Angel Mounds

Evansville leaders want to know where to develop a new cross-country course. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

Explore Evansville says it plans to conduct a comprehensive feasibility study for a cross-country course in the region.

The group says it’s in response to growing interest in outdoor sports and recreation, and because the current host site, Angel Mounds, will no longer host such events after 2025.

Explore Evansville says the study will evaluate potential locations, course designs, and the economic benefits a new cross-country facility could bring to the community.

It will also explore opportunities to expand adventure tourism in the area, while considering how future developments could integrate with existing trail networks.

Explore Evansville President and CEO Alexis Berggren says a dedicated course would help strengthen the city as a regional leader in sports tourism, attracting new competitions, visitors, and economic opportunities.
