The Humane Society is looking to make room for evacuated pets from Hurricane Milton

The Vanderburgh Humane Society is waiving adoption fees and pleading for foster families as it prepares to accept pets displaced by Hurricane Milton. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The VHS says free adoptions apply to every available pet in their care: dogs, cats, puppies, kittens and other small animals at the shelter off Morgan Avenue, as well as cats at the River Kitty Cat Café on Main Street.

The shelter currently has more than 400 pets available.

The society say if you can’t commit to adoption, temporary fosters are also needed.

The group says all expenses -- including food -- are covered for VHS-affiliated foster families.

The group says pets from the hurricane can’t be transported to Evansville until space is made.

The Warrick Humane Society is also trying to make room for animals displaced by Hurricane Helene.
