A ribbon has been cut to celebrate Evansville’s first two homes made from shipping containers. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
Officials cut the ribbon Wednesday in the 1100 block of Cody St.
The former containers have been turned into 640 square-foot, single-family homes.

They include two bedrooms, one bathroom, energy-efficient appliances, a porch and a small yard.
The Community Action Program of Evansville – or CAPE -- and the Department of Metropolitan Development want to know if the new design will work for Evansville.
A combination of public and private funding enabled CAPE to make the small homes available at “an affordable price.”
They’re now being prepared to hit the market.
