Vanderburgh County Lifts Burn Ban

File

Commissioners cite significant rainfall, more rain expected through the weekend

Vanderburgh County has lifted its burn ban. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

County Commissioners cited “significant rainfall in the area” in its decision to end the Open Burning Emergency.

It’s been in effect since September 6th.

The National Weather Service had recorded about a half-inch of rain at Evansville Regional Airport as of mid-afternoon today (Tues), with more rain in the forecast.

The weather service says widespread showers and scattered thunderstorms are expected Thursday through Monday, as the remnants of Helene move into the region.

Forecasters say the storm could bring heavy rain and further ease drought conditions in the area.

Update: Other area counties have lifted their burn bans, including Warrick, Posey, Gibson, and Spencer.
