Two Evansville area schools have been named winners of the National Blue Ribbon. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:
The U.S. Department of Education has named Oak Hill Elementary School in Vanderburgh County and St. Wendell Catholic School in Posey County as Blue Ribbon Schools.
They’re among just 16 Indiana schools and 356 across the nation to win the 2024 honor.
The department says the awards are presented to schools that excel in academic performance or make significant strides in closing achievement gaps among student groups.
Winners get to fly the Blue Ribbon flag, which the department says is a “widely recognized emblem of exceptional teaching and learning.”
The official award ceremony for the schools is set for November in Washington, D.C.
