Crowds at the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival in 2022

It's the second year in a row the Evansville event won the USA Today readers poll

The West Side Nut Club is celebrating another nationwide honor. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

For the second straight year, the club’s Fall Festival has been named the Best Fall Festival by USA Today in its 2024 Reader's Choice Awards.

The award came one day after the club distributed more than $700,000 to local schools, youth programs, and other non-profits during its Founders Day event.

The Nut Club says the weeklong festival on W. Franklin St. in Evansville attracts more than 200,000 visitors, making it one of biggest street festivals in the U.S.

It also includes what the club says is the nation’s largest half-pot drawing, which surpassed $1.8 million last year.

2024 Fall Festival Chairman David Murphy says the festival is “truly a community event.”

He says all of the 120-plus food booths are operated by non-profits and everything generated during the fest is invested in the community.

This year’s festival is set for October 7th through the12th and also features live entertainment, carnival rides, parades and talent competitions.
