One of the colleges at USI is being renamed following a $6 million dollar donation. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
USI Interim President Steve Bridges announced the $6 million gift from Evansville business leader and USI alumnus Wayne Kinney and his family.
To honor the Kinney family, the USI College of Nursing and Health Professions will become the Kinney College of Nursing and Health Professions.
Wayne Kinney told a gathering at USI that he and his family recently toured the college:
"What a first-class facility. I mean there are a lot of hospitals that don't have what the students have here. So, appreciate what USI has accomplished here. It's truly amazing."
President Bridges noted graduates of the nursing program are making a difference:
"They're providing outstanding health care in our community. Care for my family which I've experienced firsthand. Care for your family."
Planned uses for the $6 million include student scholarships; equipment and technology purchases and upgrades; faculty development opportunities; and initiatives for future healthcare education.
