Wesselman Woods is looking for a new leader. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
Executive Director Zach Garcia has announced his decision to step down.
He began working at Wesselman Woods in 2019 as Director of Education, later serving as Associate Executive Director before taking the helm as Executive Director in January 2022.
Garcia says he’s cherished every moment of what he calls a “transformative chapter” for the organization.
He says Wesselman Woods has achieved a “new level of stability” that allows it to innovate and grow.
The nonprofit says it’s accomplished significant milestones under Garcia’s leadership including the completion of the Bernhardt Family Bird Sanctuary, acquiring 42 acres of land on Division Street, and collaborating with the City of Evansville to reforest the former Par 3 golf course in Wesselman Park.
Garcia will join Faith in Place, an organization dedicated to empowering people of diverse faiths to advance environmental and racial justice.
