The head of Evansville cemeteries, Chris Cooke, is the new Newburgh Town Manager

The Newburgh Town Council has chosen a new Town Manager. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

The council selected Chris Cooke, who has served as the superintendent of Evansville’s city cemeteries since 2008.

Cooke replaces former Town Manager Christy Powell who stepped down in April to take a job with the Evansville Regional Economic Partnership – or E-REP.

The 48-year-old Cooke says he'll take his years of experience in government and apply it to the town of Newburgh.

He said he’s humbled and honored for the opportunity.

Andrea Balboni has been serving as interim town manager and will now serve as Deputy Town Manager in Newburgh.
