House Fire Displaces Evansville Residents

Crawford, Jeffrey N

A pet cat perished in the fire on Oakland Avenue

A house fire in Evansville has displaced three residents and claimed the life of a pet cat. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:

Firefighters were called to 2148 Oakland Avenue, near Diamond and Weinbach avenues, late Monday night for a kitchen fire.

EFD Deputy Chief Kim Garrett says the first crew on the scene found flames coming from the front door and a window towards the rear of the house.

Garrett says firefighters extinguished the blaze in about 20 minutes.

It was ruled an accidental cooking fire.

Three adults were displaced and the Red Cross was called to assist them.

No people were injured but a cat perished in the fire.
