Evansville Mayor Stephanie Terry (center) and other officials cut a ribbon opening the futsal court in Stockwell Park.

The new court is in Evansville's Stockwell Park

A ribbon has been cut, officially opening a new futsal court in Evansville. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:

The ribbon cutting was held Sunday at Stockwell Park.

Mayor Stephanie Terry says the project has been a long time in the making, starting back in 2019.

The project, like many things, was slowed by the COVID 19 pandemic.

The mayor thanked the Indiana Soccer Association and the Welborn Baptist Foundation for needed support.

Futsal is described as a miniature version of soccer played on a hard surface, similar to a basketball court.
