The new Evansville flag was hoisted at the Civic Center and volunteers worked in the Jacobsville neighborhood

812 Day began with the raising of a new Evansville Flag. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

The new flag was raised in front of the Civic Center.

Mayor Stephanie Taylor thanked the Evansville Flag Group and a local student who was involved in the flag competition.

The winning flag features the Four Freedoms Monument in the middle and three stripes of color: light blue, gold, and dark blue.

The flag-raising event was followed by the first ever Block-By-Block clean up initiative.

Mayor Terry led volunteers in the Jacobsville neighborhood, mowing lawns, trimming shrubs, removing litter and tackling heavy trash.

Hope City Church hosted the clean-up and Terry thanked the church and what she called “90 amazing volunteers and city employees who gave their time and energy to make a difference.”
