Left turns at the Lloyd Expressway and Vann Avenue are expected to disappear later this month. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:
Evansville Mayor Stephanie Terry posted on Facebook that INDOT will eliminate left turns at the busy intersection as soon as Monday, Aug. 19th.
It’s part of the Lloyd4U initiative.
Eastbound drivers will still be able to turn right onto southbound Vann, but a new barrier will block westbound Lloyd drivers from turning left.
Drivers on southbound Vann will still be able to turn right onto the westbound Lloyd but will not be able to cross the expressway or turn left.
The Lloyd4U includes projects from the Posey County line to Cross Pointe Boulevard through 2028.
The initiative includes new traffic control systems like displaced left turn lanes, boulevard lefts, and reduced conflict intersections.
During construction, drivers will also encounter zipper merges.
