CenterPoint Energy is checking the calendar and reminding everyone to contact 8-1-1 before digging. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
August 11th is 8-1-1 Day, and the company reminds customers that it’s “critical” to call or contact 8-1-1 before starting any projects that involve digging.
You’re advised to do so at least two days before work starts so crews can locate underground utilities at no cost.
CenterPoint Vice President Al Payton says contacting 8-1-1 is the only way to know if utilities are buried in your area.
Safe digging practices are required by state law and help prevent damage to underground natural gas, electric, communication, water and sewer lines.
