Officials are warning of potentially harmful air quality. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
Distant wildfires, sunny skies, and light winds have prompted the Indiana Department of Environmental Management to issue Air Quality Action Days through Tuesday for southwest Indiana.
IDEM says say a system of high pressure across the lower Ohio Valley has allowed some light smoke to reach the surface.
Officials say the smoke combined with light winds and sunny skies may increase ozone levels to the range of “unhealthy for sensitive groups.”
You’re urged to avoid unnecessary driving, fires and wood burning.
Officials also urge residents to carpool, use public transportation, work from home if possible, and combine errands.
Cooler and slightly breezier weather is forecast to move in Wednesday.
