Loans Available for July 9th Storm Victims

Loan centers have opened in Mt. Vernon and Owensville

Disaster loans are available to residents and businesses impacted by the July 9th tornadoes. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The Indiana Department of Homeland Security has opened Disaster Loan Outreach Centers in Posey and Gibson counties.

The U.S. Small Business Administration is offering the low-interest loans at the Posey County Emergency Management Agency at 311 Mill St. in Mt. Vernon and at the Owensville Fire Department at 200 S. First St. in Owensville.

The hours at both facilities are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through August 10th.

The loans are also are available for affected residents in the Indiana counties of Knox, Pike, Vanderburgh and Warrick; the Illinois counties of Gallatin, Wabash and White; and the Kentucky counties of Henderson and Union. 

The storm system produced seven tornadoes, with the strongest one hitting the east end of Mt. Vernon.

No serious injuries were reported.
