Temporary repairs are in place following a severe storm in April; permanent repairs are still to come

The Evansville Wartime Museum plans to reopen three months after a storm damaged the facility. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

The museum on Petersburg Road -- on the grounds of Evansville Regional Airport -- will reopen to the public Saturday, August 3rd.

Officials say the museum has temporary repairs in place on the roof and hangar doors.

Work has not yet begun on permanent repairs.

The museum says the repair contract is being finalized and the work may require weekday closings for a couple of months.

Starting August 3rd, the museum’s hours through September are Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4:00 p.m.

On its Facebook page, the Wartime Museum says the facility “means a lot to this community” and officials want the museum to be available to all.

The museum’s bi-monthly Lunch, Learn and Share events will continue at the VFW Post 1114 on Wabash Avenue until repairs are complete.
