Forecasters say heavy rain has become the bigger threat than intense heat. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:
Widespread showers, thunderstorms and related cloud cover prompted the National Weather Service to cancel its Heat Advisory.
It’s been replaced by a Flood Watch that’s in effect through Tuesday night.
The weather service says showers and storms over southern Illinois produced flooding Tuesday morning.
Forecasters say more showers and storms could cause flooding through much of the region.
The weather service also says storms with damaging winds also possible, but there’s no word of a tornado threat.
Seven twisters caused damaged in Union, Posey, and Gibson counties last Tuesday.
