File

Customers using AutoPay may have been charged twice between July 1st and July 5th

CenterPoint Energy says it will refund customers who were charged twice for their June utility bill. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The utility company says customers enrolled in AutoPay may have been charged twice while the company was changing its billing system.

CenterPoint spokesman Noah Stubbs says the issue affected payments scheduled for July 1st through July 5th.

Stubbs says customers with payments scheduled after July 5th are not impacted.

CenterPoint says it will refund the affected customers and reimburse any overdraft or return payment fees as soon as possible.

The company says customers don’t need to take any action.

CenterPoint says it will notify customers impacted by the issue and provide additional steps that may needed for reimbursement.

The utility company apologized for any inconvenience.
