Weisheit Arrested in Warrick Probe

Marlin Weisheit, 72

ISP: Marlin Weisheit was paid without approval of the county's health administrator

An Indiana State Police investigation of Warrick County government has led to another arrest. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

Warrick County Commissioners announced in December that 72-year-old Marlin Weisheit of Boonville would be the interim administrator for the county’s Health Department.

The ISP says four days earlier, a contract between the Commissioners and Weisheit was signed agreeing he is an independent contractor and not a representative of Warrick County or a county employee.

Indiana law says the health officer for the county must appoint the Administrator of the Health Departmen, and Warrick’s health administrator had denied Weisheit the position.

The administrator eventually consented to hiring Weisheit in April.

The ISP says the claims for hours worked by Weisheit in January and February were paid in the amount of $9,600 from health department funds without the knowledge or approval of the health administrator.

Weisheit allegedly used the health administrator’s stamp without his approval or authority to transfer funds within the health department’s budget. Weisheit faces charges of Official Misconduct and Conversion.

All three Warrick County Commissioners were arrested earlier this year after an Indiana State Police investigation into the County’s Animal Control.

Commissioners Dan Saylor and Bob Johnson lost in the May primary election.
