CenterPoint Changing Billing System

File

Some online services will be down during the transition

CenterPoint Energy is changing its billing system. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The Texas-based company says southern Indiana customers will receive a new account number and see a new online interface, starting July 2nd.

CenterPoint says the update also includes a redesigned bill format, simplified program enrollments, and more self-service options.

Customers will find their new account number on the upper right corner of their paper bill, online at CenterPointEnergy.com/MyAccount on the left side of the dashboard, or by calling CenterPoint customer service.

WNIN News asked CenterPoint spokesman Noah Stubbs why the change?

"We're aligning our billing system here in Indiana and Ohio with our billing systems that we use in our other territories."

Stubbs says the transition may require additional efforts from customers:

"Some CenterPoint services, including online account management and automated phone systems, will be temporarily unavailable. That will start June 27th to July 1st."

Among the disrupted services is online reporting of emergencies:

"Natural gas and electric emergencies can still be reported by phone during that time."

Stubbs has advice for some CenterPoint customers:

"We're encouraging those customers who might have an upcoming bill payment scheduled to go ahead and schedule that or complete that bill payment before June 26th to avoid a temporary delay in processing."
