A bridge connecting Henderson and Union counties reopened Thursday, ahead of schedule. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says the U.S. 60 Bridge over Highland Creek reopened after crews completed work to fix the deterioration of one of the bridge's support piers.
Engineers then confirmed the safety of the bridge and lifted weight restrictions.
They reduced the bridge's weight limit to ten tons following an inspection in May.
It mainly restricted travel for commercial and industrial vehicles.
The Transportation Cabinet says original estimates were that repairs would take about month. Officials say the project was completed in 14 days.
Crews from Intech Contracting performed the work.
