Ozone Levels May Rise on Wednesday

IDEM

IDEM has issued an Air Quality Action Day for southern Indiana

Bright sunshine, light winds, and rising temperatures may lead to unhealthy air. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management has issued an Air Quality Action Day for southern Indiana on Wednesday.

IDEM says ozone is expected reach the orange level -- Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups.

Conditions are expected to create higher levels of ground-level ozone and particulates.

Residents are urged to drive less, carpool, take public transportation, avoid idling, and walk, bike, or work from home if possible.

You’re also asked to wait until evening to refuel your vehicle or use gasoline-powered lawn equipment.

Longer term actions include keeping your engine tuned, properly inflating tires, and conserving energy at home.
