This year’s W.C. Handy Blues & Barbecue Festival begins with Family Night featuring food trucks, family activities, and performer Vanessa Collier:

The free festival at Audubon Mill Park celebrates the life, legacy, and impact of W.C. Handy, known as the “Father of the Blues.”

Handy lived in Henderson for about ten years from the late 19th Century into the early 20th Century.

Thursday is Zydeco Night featuring Chubby Carrier & the Bayou Swamp Band:

Performances on Friday will be headlined by Big Head Todd and the Monsters:

And the festival wraps up on Saturday with Mr. Sipp:

Organizers say culinary delights include jambalaya, red beans & rice, and sausage on Zydeco Night and an array of tasty offerings all day Friday and Saturday.
