USI Names Bridges as Interim President

USI Interim President Steven Bridges

Steven Bridges is the first alumnus to serve as University President

A long-time USI employee has been named the university’s interim president. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

USI’s Board of Trustees announced the appointment of Steven Bridges as Interim President, effective July 20th.

That’s when current president Dr. Ron Rochon steps down and takes the top job at California State-Fullerton.

Bridges is a two-time USI alumnus and will be the first alumnus to serve as president.

Since April 2015, Bridges has served as USI’s Vice President for Finance and Administration.

USI Board Chair Christine Keck says Bridges has demonstrated “35 years of dedicated service to the USI community as both an employee and alumnus.”

Bridges received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from USI in 1988, and began working for the University the following year as a Staff Accountant and later earned his Master of Business Administration degree.

He says working with faculty and staff, he’s confident the interim period will not be one of waiting but a period for “advancing in all we do.”

USI will begin conducting a national search for its next President this summer.
