The Hopkins County Coroner identified the victim as Sandra Eckard, 48

Sunday’s severe storms claimed at least one life in western Kentucky. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

The Hopkins County Coroner says 48-year-old Sandra Eckard of Dawson Springs was killed in the severe weather.

The town was also hit by the December 2021 tornadoes.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has declared a state of emergency following the latest storms.

The National Weather Service issued numerous tornado warnings across the Tri-State Sunday night.

Western Kentucky appears to have been the hardest hit, but scattered damage was reported across the region.

The Hopkins County YMCA in Madisonville has opened its showers to the public this week, following Sunday’s storms.

The Y in Madisonville is also providing phone charging stations, free Wi-Fi, hot coffee and snacks.

Free lunches are available to first responders and storm victims.
