NWS: Severe Storms for Memorial Day Weekend

Sunday is expected to bring the biggest risk of severe storms, including possible tornadoes

The Memorial Day holiday includes chances foer severe storms. WNIN’s John Gibson has the latest:

The Evansville area faces a slight risk of severe storms Friday and an enhanced risk on Sunday.

The National Weather says scattered thunderstorms are expected today and tonight. A few severe storms will be possible late this afternoon into the evening.

Large hail and damaging winds will be the primary concerns, but a tornado or two cannot be ruled out. Locally heavy rainfall could lead to isolated flooding.

Then on Sunday, numerous thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon and Sunday night.
Damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes will all be possible on Sunday. 
Forecasters say supercells are expected at first, but they will quickly form into a line and move east or southeast across the region. 
The weather service says a few high-end severe events, including 2-inch diameter hail, 75+ mph winds, and EF2 or greater tornadoes, will be possible on Sunday. 
And heavy rains could again lead to isolated flooding.
