USI President Rochon Leaving Evansville

USI

Rochon has accepted the president's job at California State-Fullerton

USI President Ron Rochon is leaving the university. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:

Rochon says he has accepted the presidency at California State University-Fullerton beginning July 22nd.

Rochon says he discussed his decision with the Chair of the USI Board of Trustees Christine Keck.

Rochon says she expressed congratulations, appreciation for their collective work, and underscored the Board's commitment to the continuity of leadership and stability at USI.

The Board will conduct a public meeting to appoint an interim president before Rochon’s departure in July.

Rochon calls his 14 years at the university “among the greatest honors” of his life.

He served as Provost before the board promoted to President in 2018.

He was the first Black president at USI.

Among his accomplishments was elevating the school’s athletic program to Division One.

In his departure announcement, Rochon calls USI “uniquely a special place with wonderful and special people.”

He says “I will forever be a Screaming Eagle.”
