The gift from Kyle and Ashley Freeland will create a baseball clubhouse on the campus

The University of Evansville has announced what’s believed to be the biggest ever donation to its athletic program. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The university says it’s “elated” to receive the roughly $3 million donation from Kyle and Ashley Freeland to establish a baseball clubhouse.

The facility will be built near Braun Stadium and will include a locker room, offices for coaching staff, and space for a lounge.

It’s expected to be completed in summer 2025.

Kyle Freeland honed his skills as a member of the Aces baseball team before being drafted in 2015 and pitching for the Colorado Rockies.

His wife, Ashley Freeland, is herself a former student-athlete at UE and attained her Bachelor of Science in Sport Management in 2015.

Kyle Freeland called it an honor to give back to the university and support the baseball program.

He said he owes so much of his development as a player and a person to his time at UE and to Coach Wes Carroll.
