New Restrictions Coming for I-69 Work

Ohio River Crossing

The restrictions in Henderson are part of the Ohio River Crossing project

New traffic restrictions and changes are planned in Henderson as part of the I-69 bridge project. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

Officials say the changes will start as soon as this weekend at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Kentucky 351 -- or 2nd Street.

Crews are in the process of building two new roundabouts west of 41 for Section 1 of the I-69 Ohio River Crossing.

The goal is to finish the roundabouts and open all lanes before the start of the new school year in August.

In the meantime, one lane will be closed in each direction on 2nd Street from near Klutey Park Plaza Drive -- west of North Middle School -- to Arlington Drive west of Henderson County High School.

Traffic will be reduced to 25 miles per hour in the zone.

Drivers are encouraged to slow down and stay alert.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says flaggers may be used periodically in the construction zone to help traffic flow.
