As the weather warms up and more of us ride bicycles, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office is stressing safety. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
May is National Bike Safety Month and the sheriff’s office notes bicycling is a fun, healthy, and eco-friendly way to get around, but it's also important to ride safely.
The sheriff’s office is offering tips: wear a helmet at all times, follow traffic rules and ride in the same direction as cars and trucks, wear bright, reflective clothing, and use lights or reflectors on your bike, especially when riding at night.
Also, keep your eyes and ears open for vehicles, pedestrians, and other potential hazards, and don’t use headphones or other distractions that might keep you from hearing or seeing what's going on around you.
