16 UE Archaeology students are gearing up for a summer of hands-on learning experiences – and memories -- around the world. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:
The university says the group will dive into projects, including a literal dive into Lake Erie to document and protect submerged indigenous sites.
They’ll also search for shipwrecks in the Caribbean, perform excavations in Greece, and work to uncover Medieval human remains in Romania.
In addition to international projects, students will also assist the Army Corps of Engineers in Illinois, explore a Spanish mission site in Texas, manage artifact collections in Indiana, and create databases for archaeological finds in Maryland.
Here in Evansville, two of the students will work on museum collections management and visitor services at the Reitz Home Museum, while others will contribute to educational efforts at Angel Mounds and Wesselman Woods.
