The Vanderburgh Humane Society has received a $35,000 grant from a national nonprofit. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
Petco Love is a non-profit arm of Petco that was founded in 1999 and has invested $375 million in pet adoption and other lifesaving efforts.
The non-profit also helps find homes for pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations — including the VHS.
The national group says its investment in the Vanderburgh Humane Society is part of $15 million in recent investments to power local organizations across the country.
Petco Love says it’s committed to a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized.
The VHS has been serving the community since 1957 and says it has maintained a more than 90% save rate since 2020 while remaining open-admission.
The society’s clinic completed its 100,000th spay/neuter surgery in December of 2022.
