David Sedaris to Visit Evansville this Fall

WBUR Boston

The acclaimed writer and playwright will read at the Victory Theatre Oct. 27th

A storyteller well-known to public radio listeners is coming to Evansville. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

An Evening with David Sedaris is set for October 27th at the Victory Theatre.

Sedaris became one of America’s top humor writers, after appearing on NPR’s Morning Edition in 1992.

He read an excerpt from his Santa Land Diaries, based on a job he once had as a Santa’s helper at Macy’s in New York City:

"I wear green velvet nickers, a forest green velvet smock and a perky little hat decorated with spangles. This is my work uniform..."

The broadcast of Sedaris’s somewhat exaggerated take on his time as Crumpet the Elf and more NPR appearances boosted his popularity and he became a best-selling writer.

NPR still airs the excerpt from Santa Land Diaries every Christmas on Morning Edition.

Sedaris’s 18th book, Happy-Go-Lucky, was published in 2022.

Tickets for his October 27th appearance at the Victory go on sale Friday, April 26th.
