Crews reduced to number of customers in the dark to about 4,000 Thursday morning

About 4,000 CenterPoint Energy customers remained without power more than two days after severe storms tore through the Tri-State. WNIN’s John Gibson has more

CenterPoint and contract crews reduced the number of outages to about 4,000 in southwest Indiana as of mid-morning Thursday.

The utility company says crews continue to uncover damage and encounter new challenges while making repairs.

CenterPoint says high winds on Wednesday caused even more outages.

The company says crews have encountered more than 150 downed utility poles in the Evansville metro area, requiring the replacement of multiple transformers and spans of wire.

CenterPoint says many jobs have required tree trimming and clearing of vegetation before repair work can begin.

The company says some customers will continue to experience outages into Friday and the weekend.
