Debris strewn off Oliver Road in Posey County

But Shannon Corrigan's property was ravaged

A Posey County woman is feeling thankful after Tuesday’s storms struck her property but spared her home. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:

Shannon Corrigan lives in a two-story house on Oliver Road.

She says she was receiving weather alerts on her phone, so she grabbed her cats and hunkered down in the bathroom:

"It was fast, it was furious, it was loud, it was so scary and then it was over."

At first, Corrigan thought everything was okay:

"And I look outside and John, it was complete devastation. There's just debris everywhere. I have 2-by-4's on my upper deck from 100 yards away. My front porch from my cabin is 50 feet away, lots of trees just completely uprooted, there's powerlines everywhere on my property."

Corrigan says the storm destroyed a building on the property that she used to rent out:

"It's really the back cabin that some people have glamped in but it's a studio now and it's full of water and the roof is missing."

Corrigan says she’s “very grateful” that her home is still standing.
