But will they clear in time for the event?

The weather forecast for Monday is looking a little more encouraging for eclipse fans. WNIN’s John Gibson has the latest:

The National Weather Service now says skies look to start off mostly cloudy Monday morning, but clear from west to east by early afternoon.

Forecasters say it will be a “close call” on how clear skies will be before the eclipse occurs.

It’s a slight improvement from an earlier forecast that called for more clouds and a chance of rain.

Monday is expected to be a breezy day with high temperatures in the lower 70s.

The moon will eclipse the sun just after 2:00 p.m. Monday, turning day into night for about three minutes in Evansville.

Certified eclipse glasses must be worn to look at the sun.
