Spring officially arrives in the Tri-State Tuesday night. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:

This last day of winter began with winter-like temperatures in the mid-to-upper 20’s.

The National Weather Service warned of “hard freeze conditions” early Tuesday morning.

But temperatures, which have been running above average, are expected to recover with highs in the 50’s to near 60 through the weekend.

Spring arrives at 10:06 p.m. Central Time, and weather officials say it comes with an elevated fire danger in the Tri-State.

Forecasters say gusty southwest winds combined with continued dry conditions across the region, will create the fire danger.

The next chance for rain is Thursday night and Friday.
