A Tornado Watch has been issued for much of southern Illinois. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
The National Weather Service issued the watch Thursday afternoon. It’s in effect until 9:00 Thursday night.
Southern Illinois counties in the watch area include Edwards, Wabash, and Wayne.
The watch also includes much of Missouri – including the St. Louis area -- and a portion of Arkansas.
Forecasters say a few tornadoes are likely in the watch area, with widespread hail and non-tornado wind gusts up to 70 miles an hour.
The immediate Evansville area is not in the watch but still faces a risk of severe weather.
